Cornflake Coated Crispy Bacon
Spread the love

Grandma always said that everything is better with a little bit of crunch, and this Cornflake Coated Crispy Bacon completely takes the breakfast table by storm. By taking thick, savory strips of bacon and coating them in a sweet, crunchy layer of crushed cornflakes and a hint of brown sugar, you get a side dish that is completely addictive.

It is the perfect balance of sweet, smoky, and salty that will have your family reaching for a second batch before the first one even cools down.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

You will love this cornflake coated crispy bacon because it elevates regular breakfast bacon into a spectacular, gourmet treat. The cornflake crust bakes up incredibly crispy in the oven, sealing in the savory bacon juices while adding a delightful, old-fashioned crunch to every single bite.

It is completely low-stress to make since it bakes flat on a sheet pan with zero stovetop splatters. If you want to create the ultimate show-stopping Southern brunch spread, serve this crunchy bacon right alongside a warm pan of my creamy Cheesy Grits Sausage Breakfast Casserole!

Grandma’s Tips

Use Thick-Cut Bacon: For the best results, use a high-quality, thick-cut bacon. Thin strips can shrink up too fast and cause the crunchy coating to fall off, whereas thick-cut slices hold their shape beautifully and provide the perfect sturdy base for the cornflakes.

Get the Perfect Crush: When crushing your cornflakes, aim for a coarse crumb rather than a fine powder. You want distinct little flakes left in the mixture to give you that signature, ultimate crispy texture after baking.

Use a Wire Rack: Bake your coated bacon on a wire rack set inside a foil-lined baking sheet. This allows the hot oven air to circulate completely around the strips, ensuring the bacon gets perfectly crispy on both the top and the bottom without sitting in grease.
