Why You’ll Love This Honey Walleye

The Perfect Sweet and Savory Balance: The natural sweetness of the honey pairs beautifully with savory herbs to create a glaze that complements the mild, clean flavor of the fish.
Incredibly Flaky and Tender: This quick-cooking recipe ensures the walleye stays perfectly moist and tender on the inside. Meanwhile, it develops a gorgeous glaze on the outside.
Quick and Easy Weeknight Meal: This simple, elegant fish dish comes together in just minutes. Therefore, it is perfect for busy weeknights or a special weekend dinner.

Tips for the Perfect Honey Walleye

Pat the Fish Completely Dry: To ensure your honey glaze sticks beautifully to the fillets, use a paper towel to pat the walleye completely dry before seasoning. Also, removing excess surface moisture helps the fish sear perfectly instead of steaming in the pan.

Do Not Overcook the Fillets: Walleye is a delicate fish that cooks very quickly. Watch the fillets closely and pull them from the heat the moment the meat flakes easily with a fork. This usually takes just a few minutes per side depending on the thickness.

Add the Honey Glaze Near the End: Because honey contains natural sugars that can burn quickly over high heat, brush your honey glaze onto the walleye during the last few minutes of cooking. This simple step gives you a gorgeous, caramelized coating without any burnt edges.
