Grandma’s Apple Sage Turkey Sausage Patties

When grandma taught me to make this dish, she always told me that sausage and apples went together and made a great pair. Grandma also said that by adding sage to this combination, you have a really standout patty that completely steals the show at the breakfast table. These are perfect for busy mornings because they can easily be made ahead of time and pulled out right when you need them.
It is the perfect balance of savory, sweet, and earthy flavors that will have your family reaching for a second patty before the first batch is even off the platter..
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
You will love these apple and sage sausage patties because they elevate a regular breakfast routine into a spectacular, gourmet meal. By using lean ground turkey, you get a lighter, healthier alternative to traditional pork sausage that stays incredibly juicy thanks to the fresh shredded apple mixed right into the meat.
It is a completely low-stress recipe that is perfect for meal prep. You can shape these patties ahead of time, freeze them, and have a wholesome, flavorful breakfast ready to fry up in minutes. Grandma’s Tips
Squeeze Out the Moisture: Don’t skip the step of letting the shredded apples sit and blotting them dry with paper towels. Getting that excess juice out is Grandma’s secret to making sure the patties hold their shape beautifully in the skillet instead of falling apart.
Mix Gently: When combining the ground turkey with the herbs and apple, mix it lightly with your hands or a spoon just until it comes together. Over-mixing can make the meat dense and tough, but a gentle touch keeps the patties incredibly tender.
Freeze with Wax Paper: Since these are so great for making ahead, flash-freeze the raw patties on your wax paper-lined baking sheets for an hour. Once they are firm, stack them in a freezer bag with small squares of wax paper between them so you can easily pull out just one or two at a time.
