Ingredients 

  • 1 pkg devils food cake mix (regular sized box)
  • cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped
  • 2 ¼ Tbsp grated semisweet chocolate

Instructions

  • Prepare and bake the cake according to the package directions, using 2 9-inch round baking pans.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before removing them. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  • In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, vanilla, salt, and sugar until smooth. Fold in the whipped cream.
  • Cut each cake horizontally into two cake layers.
  • Place the bottom layer on a serving plate, and top with a fourth of the cream mixture.
  • Sprinkle with a fourth of the chocolate. Repeat the layers 3 times.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
