Preheat the oven to 350°.
In a large skillet cook the sausage over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain.
In a large saucepan, bring the broth, salt, and water to a boil. Slowly stir in the grits.
Reduce the heat, cook and stir about 5 to 7 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat.
Add the cheese, garlic powder, sage, milk. Stir until the cheese is melted. Stir in the eggs and sausage.
Transfer to a greased 13x9 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with paprika if desired.
Bake, uncovered until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, for about 40 to 45 minutes.
Let the casserole stand for about 10 minutes before serving.
