Equipment

  • 1 6 quart stockpot
  • 1 potatoe masher
  • 1 drainer

Ingredients 

  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • ¼ cup butter, cubed
  • cup sour cream
  • cup milk warmed
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ¼ cup shredded Gruyere or swiss cheese
  • ¼ cup minced fresh chives
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • ½ tsp garlic salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper

Instructions

  • Place potatoes in a 6 quart stockpot, and add enough water to cover the potatoes. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to medium, cook uncovered until the potatoes are tender about 10 minutes, if not tender allow to cook an additional 5 minutes.
  • Drain the water, and return to the pot. Mash the p0tatoes while gradually adding milk, garlic and sour cream. finish by stirring in the remaining ingredients.
