This English Trifle recipe was my grandma's. I do remember my mother telling me stories about how her mother made this dessert for Saturday night dinners, when they had guest.
1pkg 3 to 3 1/2 ozregular or instant vanilla pudding mix
2 ½cupmilk
1cupchilled heavy whipping cream
3Tbspconfectioners' sugar
Slivered Almonds
Maraschino cherries, halved

Instructions
Slice the pound cake in half horizontally. Spread with jam and replace the top of the cake.
Slice the cake into 9 pieces. Line the sides and fill the center of a 2 quart glass serving bowl with cake pieces.
Prepare the pudding with the milk. Pour this mixture over the cake. Then chill this mixture.
Beat the cream and sugar until soft peaks form; spread this over the cake and pudding. Chill at least 4 hours. Garnish with the slivered almonds and cherries.
